RAY NASH CUP FINAL

Mixed Pairs

Friday 7th August 2026 – 6.00pm

It was a beautiful summer’s evening for the inaugural final of the Ray Nash Cup, a new competition introduced this season in honour of the late Ray Nash and her long and happy association with Bicester Bowls Club.

The cup celebrates Ray’s commitment to the club and the community of Bicester, and it was fitting that the first final should be such an enjoyable and closely fought match.

The competition was brilliantly organised by Laurie Bryant and was played on Friday evenings throughout the summer, keeping members entertained and intrigued as the competition progressed.

The final saw Gordon and Linda Davies take on Julie Cooper and Alan Wagner, with four of Bicester Bowls Club’s top players battling it out over eight ends.

It proved to be a fantastic contest, with very little separating the two pairs throughout. In the end, however, it was Julie and Alan who triumphed, winning by 9–5 to become the first holders of the Ray Nash Cup.

The trophy was presented to the winners by Renee Lloyd, a lifelong friend of Ray Nash, making the occasion particularly special.

Congratulations to Julie and Alan on a well-deserved victory, and well done to Gordon and Linda for a great performance in a closely contested final.

A huge thank you must also go to Laurie Bryant for organising such an enjoyable competition, and to everyone who took part and helped make the inaugural Ray Nash Cup such a success.

We look forward to seeing the competition return next year and hopefully become a much-loved fixture in the Bicester Bowls Club calendar.
